John came to Heights in early 2025, stepping into the shoes of faithful men who've gone before him. While originally from Virginia, he got to Texas as fast as he could—moving to the Lone Star state in 1980. He has served in churches around the north/central Texas area for decades, most recently in Garland, where he served as Senior Pastor for 17 years. He married his wife, Tracy, in 1992 and the couple have two amazing children (Christopher and Melody)...as well as their first grandson, which is what brought them southward to Temple. John received his bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from Hardin-Simmons University (1992), his M.Div. from Southwestern Seminary (1995) and pursued a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible at Baylor University for almost three years before obtaining his D.Min. Degree in Pastoral Leadership from Southwestern Seminary (2010).
